First Dose Of Vaccination In Riau Reaches 75.35 Percent
RIAU - Acting Head of the Riau Provincial Health Office Masrul Kasmy said the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination as of December 29, 2021, reached 75.35 percent.
"The achievement of the first dose of vaccination in Riau Province has reached 75.35 percent of the target of 4.8 million people, meaning that around 3.8 million people have been vaccinated with the first dose," Masrul Kasmy told reporters in Pekanbaru, as reported by Antara, Wednesday, December 29.
He said the population of Riau is around 6.3 million people, 70 percent of which is around 4.8 million people. This means that vaccination has exceeded 70 percent of the target.
He said Riau Province was only after four other districts that had not yet reached 70 percent of the first dose of vaccination, namely Meranti Regency 68.66 percent, Rohul 68.18 percent, Inhil 67.86 percent, Kampar 66.96 percent.
"Other regencies/cities have reached over 70 percent, namely Pekanbaru 96.28 percent, Dumai 81.56 percent, Kuansing 73.42 percent, Pelalawan 73.50 percent, Bengkalis 73.33 percent, Inhu 73.08 percent, Rohil 71.04 percent, and Siak 70.23 percent," he said.

Even though the vaccination achievement was encouraging, he said, he asked residents not to be careless. He said vaccination of the elderly must also be pursued according to the minimum 60 percent set by the center.
For Riau, only Pekanbaru City is approaching 60 percent, or about 2,000 people it can reach 60 percent.
Masrul Kasmy also added, if the elderly vaccination has reached the target limit set, the Riau Provincial Government will focus on vaccinating children aged 6-11 years.
"Yes, if it is possible to achieve at least 60 percent of the elderly vaccination for the first dose, it will be continued to enter the age of 6-11 years for vaccinating children. To accelerate the vaccination of children, after the elderly target of 60 percent can only start vaccination for children," he said.
