Four Cases In West Java That Draw Public Attention, From The Police Chief Involved In Drugs To The Sexual Assault Of 13 Students
WEST JAVA - Throughout 2021, a number of criminal cases will occur in West Java, ranging from the case of the murder of a mother and child in Subang Regency which drew public attention to the case of the forced assault of dozens of students by an Islamic Boarding School teacher.
Other cases are the case of the Astanaanyar Police Chief who was involved in drugs and the collision case in Nagreg involving TNI personnel.
A number of these cases have entered the trial stage and some have not been revealed by the police, so cases that have not been revealed become homework to be resolved immediately.
Police chief involved in drugs in Bandung
On February 18, 2021, the name of Commissioner of Police (Kompol) Yuni Purwanti appeared in public. The appearance of the name of the female police officer is not a figure who eradicates crime, but on the contrary.
At that time, Yuni, who served as Astanaanyar Police Chief, was suspected of being involved in drug abuse along with a number of her members. Sadly, Commissioner of Police Yuni is also known to have served as the Head of the Drug Investigation Unit before serving in the Bandung City Police environment.
"To those concerned, of course, she has been removed from her position as police chief," said Ahmad Dofiri, who was still the Inspector General of Police as the West Java Police Chief at the time.
Yuni's case immediately drew national attention and also for the internal Bhayangkara Corps itself. The ranks of the Bandung Polrestabes immediately suddenly carried out mass urine tests for their members.
At the end of 2021, the West Java Regional Police stated that Commissioner of Police Yuni and the other members involved had been dishonorably dismissed (PTDH) after going through a judicial process.
Head of Propam of West Java Police, Grand Commissioner Pol Yohan Priyoto said the dismissal was a testament to the seriousness and commitment of the Police in eradicating drug trafficking.
"The person concerned has the rank of pamen (middle officer), the appeal is at the National Police Headquarters, and the appeal has been rejected, so the PTDH concerned has been carried out," said Yohan at the West Java Regional Police, Bandung City, West Java, Wednesday.
Subang's unsolved murder
The day after the celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia in 2021, the public was shocked by the case of the murder of a mother and child in Subang Regency, West Java.
The mother and child are Tuti (55) and Amelia (23) who are residents of Ciseuti Hamlet, Jalancagak District, Subang Regency. The two were found dead in the trunk of a luxury car on the morning of August 18, 2021.
The bodies of the mother and child were said to have been found by Yosef (55), who is Tuti's husband and Amelia's father. However, the murder was declared not to be accompanied by a robbery, because no property was stolen from the house.
After four months passed, the case has not been revealed by the police. Even though at the beginning of the case, the police had already given a signal that they would soon reveal the mastermind behind the deaths of Tuti and Amelia.
The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the West Java Police, Grand Commissioner Pol. Yani Sudarto, at the West Java Police, on Wednesday, admitted that the Subang case had a fairly high level of difficulty.
So far, he said the police had examined as many as 69 witnesses. Of the tens of people, 15 of them are relatives of the victims, 11 witnesses who passed by, 32 witnesses to determine alibis, and 11 other witnesses who are not related to the incident but whose statements are needed.
He said the Subang murder case had high difficulties, because until now the investigation team had not been able to determine and confirm the two pieces of evidence needed to determine the suspect.
"So we haven't got the two pieces of evidence," said Yani.
Meanwhile, after four months had passed, the police had obtained a sketch of the suspect's face after matching the statements of the witnesses. The alleged perpetrator had short black hair, an oval face, and wore a dark plaid shirt.
Sexual Assault of 13 female students
A criminal case that is also prominent enough to get the attention of President Joko Widodo, namely the sexual assault case against 13 female students by an Islamic boarding school teacher with the initials HW (36). HW's disgraceful action caused the victims to experience pregnancy and give birth.
The case has been under investigation since mid-2021, after the police received a number of reports from the victims. The victims of HW's heinous act are minors.
Although it has been detected since the middle of the year, the case only emerged to the public in December 2021 from a trial held at the Bandung District Court.
The delay in information appearing to the public is not without reason. The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Grand Commissioner Erdi A Chaniago, said that the release of the case was not carried out because it involved the psychological impact of the victims.
Even so, Erdi ensured that the legal process for HW was carried out by the police. It is evident from the HW case that it has entered the trial stage in December 2021.
"We are still completing the cases that were reported to us and the fact is that the files and suspects have been received by the prosecutor's office, and now they have been put on trial," Erdi said, Thursday (9/12).
So far, the case has been tried 10 times at the Bandung District Court. Dozens of witnesses ranging from the victims, victims' families, the defendant's family HW, to doctors and midwives have also presented their testimonies before the panel of judges.
In addition to the sexual assault case, HW is also now suspected of misappropriating school aid funds to exploit the students by employing them as construction workers.
One of these allegations emerged from the testimony of witnesses at the trial. Departing from this, the West Java Police also opened the possibility to investigate other criminal elements against HW.
"Of course, we will use it as information to carry out further investigations, and that, of course, requires a process, please let us conduct an investigation first," said Director of Special Criminal Investigation at the West Java Police Grand Commissioner Pol Arief Rachman, Wednesday.
