Hugo, Diego Maradona's Brother Dies

JAKARTA - The younger brother of Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona, Hugo, died on Tuesday at the age of 52, just a year after his older brother died in a death that is still shrouded in controversy.

Napoli offer their respect and condolences for the departure of Hugo, who followed in his brother's footsteps to join the Italian club in 1987.

According to a report by ANSA news agency quoted by Reuters on Tuesday, Hugo died at his home near Naples, Italy.

"The thoughts of Club President Aurelio De Laurentiis, Vice President Edoardo De Laurentiis, the officials, coaching staff, and the entire SSC Napoli family are with the Maradona family following the sad departure of Hugo," Napoli said in a statement.

Following joining Napoli three years after his brother, Hugo did not have a bright enough career and had to wander to several clubs in Europe, Latin America, and Japan such as Ascoli and Rayo Vallecano.
