Partner Involved In Abuse And Harassment, Grab Freezes The Account And Offers Compensation
JAKARTA - Grab Indonesia stated that it had followed up on its partners who were suspected of being involved in cases of abuse and harassment. Follow-up is done by freezing the account of the alleged perpetrator.
"This report is being followed up by our team who have been trained in handling violence where the account of the reported driver's partner has been frozen," said Director of Business Jabodetabek Grab Indonesia Iki Sari Dewi in a statement, Saturday, December 25.
In addition, said Iki, his party will conduct an internal investigation into the case. This is done as one of the steps to solve the problem.
"Further investigations are underway according to standard procedures and the company's code of ethics. The preparation of standard procedures and codes of ethics has been in consultation with authorized institutions and experts in their fields," she said.
On the other hand, Grab Indonesia also stated that it had offered compensation to the alleged victim. Starting from medical expenses to psychosocial counseling assistance
"We have also offered reimbursement for passengers' medical expenses and passenger assistance in the form of offering assistance to process incident reports to the authorities and have offered psychosocial counseling for recovery," said Iki.
In fact, it was emphasized that Grab Indonesia does not tolerate any form of violence for any reason. Thus, all actions of partners or suspected perpetrators will be sanctioned in the form of contract termination.
"Grab does not tolerate violence in any form, and will take firm action against partners who are proven to be involved in violent acts, including providing sanctions in the form of terminating partnerships and taking legal steps if necessary," she said.

Previously, an online taxi driver was reported again for a case of mistreatment of a female passenger. The victim, with the initials NT (25), suffered several injuries as a result of being hit by the perpetrator. NT reported the incident to the Tambora Police, West Jakarta.
According to information received, the incident began when the victim and her brother came home from a friend's birthday party. She ordered an online taxi to her house. On the way, the victim wanted to vomit and asked the taxi driver to stop for a moment. But according to the victim's narrative, the driver was silent.
NT opened the car window and threw up. The taxi driver did not accept it because the victim's vomit hit the car. Although it was explained that the victim would reimburse the washing fee, the taxi driver did not accept it. The taxi driver or the perpetrator cursed the victim and demanded IDR 300 thousand.
Then the victim got out of the car and threatened her brother by calling her friends to come gang up on him. Furthermore, the victim was also threatened and molested her body parts. The victim fought back by slapping the driver's hand so as not to touch his sensitive parts. But the perpetrator actually attacked her. As a result of the incident, NT suffered minor injuries to her face and stomach.
