East Jakarta Police Propam Examines Police Persons Persecuting Two Teens In Jatinegara

JAKARTA - Two police officers suspected of beating two teenagers in Jatinegara, East Jakarta, have been questioned by the Profession and Security (Propam) of the East Jakarta Metro Police.

"In the meantime, we (East Jakarta Polrestro Propam) are still dealing with it because the crime is with us. There is no policy to withdraw to the Polda or what," said East Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Erwin Kurniawan in Jakarta, Friday.

Erwin said that the examination of the police officers was carried out simultaneously with the case of beatings.

Erwin added that the cases of beatings reported by the two teenage victims aged 15 and 18 were handled by investigators from the East Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim).

"Yes, it is parallel. If a member must be parallel, then there is a crime and there is also a violation of the code of ethics or a violation of discipline. Now this is parallel, we will process everything," he said.

Erwin said that both parties made reports to each other to the East Jakarta Metro Police with the allegation of Article 170 of the Criminal Code on Violence Against People or Goods together.

However, the difference between the two teenagers is in the case of beatings allegedly carried out by two members of the National Police Headquarters and one civilian. Meanwhile, both members reported cases of car vandalism.

"I see that both of them have rights, because one was injured and was beaten by an unscrupulous member. One member also felt that my car was broken and the glass was broken," said Erwin.
