Police Raided Drug Nests In Cengkareng, West Jakarta, 7 People Arrested

JAKARTA - Seven drug users were arrested by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Unit when conducting a raid at the Permata Kedaung Kaliangke complex, Cengkareng. Five of them tested positive for drugs after a urine test was performed.

The raid was part of a series of operations ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve.

"This is one of a series of activities to anticipate the illegal spread of drugs in West Jakarta, especially before Christmas and New Year in a zone prone to drug trafficking", said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Ady Wibowo, when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, December 23.

The raids were led by the West Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Investigation Head, Kompol Danang Setiyo, and West Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Narcotics, AKP Arif Purnama Oktora.

"This is a part of the activity in Tangguh Village which is in the Permata Complex, so it's a routine patrol activity, the patrol can be at any time in the afternoon or evening or the morning", said Kompol Danang.

During patrol activities, the police arrested 7 people, and when they did a urine check, five of the seven people who were arrested tested positive for methamphetamine.

Those who tested positive were immediately taken to the Sespimma for rehabilitation in Ciputat, South Tangerang.

While the other two tested negative. From this raid, officers did not find any evidence of drugs.

"Yesterday, an empty house was found and there were tools used for suction, yesterday there was no evidence (drugs)", he said.

Even if no evidence is found, the police will continue to carry out routine patrols.

"In West Jakarta, there are currently 2 places where police actions are intense. The duties of the police include taking action, coaching, then patrolling, the aim is that the state is there to create a sense of security and comfort for the community", he said.
