Supports Web3, Opera Browser Now Integrated With Polygon
JAKARTA – With the hectic topic of discussion on web3, which is predicted to be the next generation of internet, a number of parties have started to look at web3, one of which is the Opera Browser. The Opera itself has announced that its browser is integrated with Polygon.
Later Opera users will be able to access more than 3000 decentralized applications (dApps) through the Polygon network. Opera itself revealed its latest partnership through a recent press release.
The browser will display a built-in crypto wallet that uses the Ethereum web3 API. It allows users to make transactions using the Polygon MATIC crypto currency. Reportedly Opera will also remove passwords to help newcomers to the crypto world.
Polygon was created as a layer-2 solution for the Ethereum network. As is known, the Ethereum network itself often applies transaction fees or gas fees at prices that are too high. This makes it difficult for new crypto users to make transactions. Polygon is here to be an alternative to this problem.
“Our partnership with Polygon will allow us to eliminate the biggest challenges crypto enthusiasts now face: high gas fees and slow transaction speeds,” said Jørgen Arnesen, Opera EVP Mobile.
Another advantage that users get from the integration of Opera into Polygon is that they can access popular dApps such as Sushiswap, Curve, Aave, Kyber, and Balancer. Users will also be able to enter blockchain-based NFT gaming platforms and marketplaces such as Decentraland, The Sandbox, Opensea, Somnium Space, and Decentral Games.
Polygon will start by being integrated into Opera's Android browser, relying on Android system keys to securely log transactions. The integration is planned to slide in the first quarter of next year.
Apart from Polygon, Opera also collaborated with Solana at the beginning of last December. Browser users will also be able to access Solana's dApps.
Opera has the potential to surpass its rival Brave, which is the current crypto browser. Unlike Brave, which launched its own cryptocurrency (BAT) and blockchain, Opera decided not to follow suit.
