Tanjungpinang Satpol PP Closes All Public Spaces And City Parks On New Year's Eve

TANJUNGPINANG - The Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) Tanjungpinang City, Riau Islands, will close all public spaces to city parks from December 31, 2021, to January 1, 2022. "The aim is to anticipate and prevent the transmission of COVID-19," said Head of Public Order and Public Order at Tanjungpinang Satpol PP, Teguh Susanto, as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 22.

According to him, this is in accordance with the Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 66 of 2021, and the Circular of the Mayor of Tanjungpinang Number 443.1/1482/6.2.03/2021 regarding the Prevention and Control of COVID-19 for the 2021 Christmas Period and 2022 New Year.

Teguh said that people usually gather to celebrate New Year's Eve in public spaces and city parks. Therefore, specifically on December 31, 2021, or the day before the turn of the New Year, his party will deploy 100 personnel consisting of members of a joint team from the Tanjungpinang City Government. They will be placed in public facilities and city parks.

The joint team also carried out mobile patrols to search for other public spaces where crowds were expected to occur.

Satpol PP appealed on New Year's Eve, all-night entertainment venues were only allowed to open until 22.00. People are asked to celebrate New Year's Eve in the family environment only.

"We hope that this can be understood together so that there is no transmission of the new variant of COVID-19 Omicron in Tanjungpinang," said Teguh.

Meanwhile, for the 2021 Christmas celebration, he continued, the Satpol PP participated in carrying out security in 16 churches under the Tanjungpinang City Inter-Church Cooperation Agency (BKAG).

Each church is guarded by two Satpol PP personnel plus members of the Tanjungpinang City Government Joint Team.

"The placement of the Satpol PP personnel is intended to provide support for securing the Christmas celebrations carried out by elements of the TNI/Polri," said Teguh.
