The Twist Of 'Our God Is Not An Arab' Sentence Is The Basis For Bahar Smith And Eggi Sudjana To Be Policed

JAKARTA - Bahar bin Smith and Eggi Sudjana were reported to Metro Jaya Police. They are suspected of carrying out hate speech with elements of SARA.

The Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police Grand Commissioner E. Zulpan stated that in this allegation, his party received two reports. Where, the time and the reporting are different.

Then, for two reporting entirely reporting Bahar bin Smith. Meanwhile, Eggi Sudjana was only reported in one report.

"First (the reporting) on December 7, 2021, was reported by two people, Eggi Sudjana and Bahar Smith. Then December 17, which was reported by Bahar Smith," Zulpan told reporters, Monday, December 20.

However, Zulpan was reluctant to elaborate on the context of the reported hate speech.

However, reports were widely circulated about Bahar bin Smith and Eggi Sudjana related to the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Dudung Abdurachman.

Zulpan only emphasized that in the report, the reporting parties attached initial evidence. So, on that basis, he accepted the report

"Reports exist, so reporters bring authentic evidence regarding the submission of the people they report on social media with sentences that cause hostility, hate speech, and SARA," said Zulpan.

Not long after, one of the two reporting parties finally came to the surface. He is Husin Shahab.

In fact, Husin explained his reasons for reporting Bahar Bin Smith and Eggi Sudjana. They are said to have twisted General Dudung's statement.

"He is lying, explaining, giving explanations to the public through his podcast, twisting Mr. Dudung's language, that can eventually lead to hatred," said Husin.

General Dudung's twisted statement was 'Our God is not an Arab'. From this statement, the reported parties have a different meaning.

In fact, said Husin, the Army Chief of Staff's statement is the truth. So there's no need to worry.

"Eggi Sudjana and Bahar Smith explained in his podcast, even Eggi Sudjana brought verses from the Koran to dispute the language or Mr. Dudung's statement 'because our God is not an Arab', it's true that he's not an Arab, what's the problem?, "said Husin.

For that reason, both were reported. Because they can create divisions in society.

"This is why we report it, otherwise it will mislead the public, the general public, in particular, will be provoked by the statements from Eggi Sudjana and Bahar Smith," said Husin.

The report is registered with the number LP/B/6146/XII/2021/SPKT Metro Jaya Police, dated December 7th. Both are suspected of violating Article 28 Paragraph 2 Juncto Article 45A Paragraph 1 of the ITE Law and/or Articles 14 and 15 of the Criminal Code.

Meanwhile, on a different occasion, Bahar bin Smith also spoke about reporting against him.

Bahar said he was not afraid even though his name was reported to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters regarding hate speech. What he conveyed in a lecture that went viral some time ago is the truth.

Bahar bin Smith's statement was delivered by Constitutional Law Expert Refly Harun through the Youtube channel @Refly Harun which was uploaded on Monday, December 20.

"I have been used to being reported from the days of SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) until now. Let alone 1, 2, or 3 reports. I will still face 1000 reports. As a law-abiding citizen, I will not back down an inch because what I said was the truth," said Refly Harun reading Bahar Smith's official stance.

In this attitude, Bahar Smith asked all parties to listen to the recording in its entirety and not to cut it into pieces. No hate speech was conveyed, but criticism of the injustice that occurred in this country.

"Is criticizing the policies of the wrong rulers hate speech? Didn't I say that it is forbidden to overthrow a legitimate government. If Habib Rizieq's enemies constantly insult, berate, curse, and slander Habib Rizieq, do I have to be silent? I stand up against The tyranny and injustice of the rulers is not against the state because for me the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, Pancasila, and the 45 Constitution is fixed," said Bahar.

Bahar said he was a servant of the people and the people in conveying the truth against injustice. So far, Bahar said he would praise good government policies or the welfare of the people. On the other hand, if he finds something wrong, he does not hesitate to criticize.

"I have said many times for the sake of Islam, for the sake of the nation, for the sake of the Indonesian people, for the sake of the Republic of Indonesia, not only in prison, my life is cheap, my blood is cheap to spill. Those who report are on the side of power. My lectures defend the people and defending the Republic of Indonesia from foreign hands, so let the people whose eyes are still open will judge," said Bahar.
