Azis Syamsuddin Disappointed With Ex-KPK Investigator Stepanus Robin: You Borrow Money, I Bill You Turn Left Turn Right
JAKARTA - Azis Syamsuddin was disappointed with the former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju, so that he dragged the former deputy chairman of the DPR RI from the Golkar Party faction as a defendant in the alleged bribery case.
"First of all, I am disappointed because with this problem I am in this position, I am a defendant," said Azis Syamsuddin at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor) quoted by Antara, Monday, December 20.
Azis is accused of allegedly giving bribes worth Rp. 3.099 billion and US$ 36,000, bringing a total of around Rp. 3.619 billion to Stepanus Robin Pattuju and lawyer Maskur Husain related to the KPK investigation in Central Lampung.
"Only an apology to the defendant so that the defendant is caught in this problem," said Robin, who was a witness in the case.
Previously, Robin said that he did not receive a bribe from Azis Syamsuddin but only borrowed Rp. 200 million.
"At this time, the witness borrowed my money, I am the defendant, then I have billed the witness twice, and the witness turned left and turned right. Do you remember to return the money?" Azis asked Robin.
"Still remember," said Robin.
"From your abilities, the witness will return this one?" Aziz asked.
"I've spoken to the family. Later the family will check," answered Robin.
Robin's confession at the trial regarding his party borrowing Rp200 million from Azis differs from Azis Syamsuddin's accusation that he asked Stepanus Robin for help in handling a case involving Azis Syamsuddin and another Golkar cadre named Aliza Gunado in connection with the KPK's investigation into the Central Lampung Special Allocation Fund (DAK). .
Robin then received an advance of Rp. 100 million and Maskur Husain received an amount of Rp. 200 million via transfer to Azis Syamsudin's account on August 3 and 5, 2020; in the amount of 100,000 US dollars on August 5, 2020, and in August 2020 until March 2021 in the amount of 171,900 Singapore dollars.
Some of the money was exchanged for rupiah, so that Robin and Markur received a total of Rp. 3,099,887,000.00 and US$ 36,000. Furthermore, the money was divided so that Robin received Rp. 799,887,000.00, while Maskur Husain received Rp. 2.3 billion and US$ 36,000.
Based on Robin's statement, Plt. KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said throughout the trial Stepanus Robin did not admit to his actions.
"Stepanus Robin Pattuju during the trial did not admit his actions of accepting a sum of money and allegedly deliberately covered up the role of Azis Syamsuddin," said Ali Fikri.
Ali asked Stepanus Robin not only to give information outside the court because it has no evidentiary value.
"KPK is very confident in the evidence related to the close cooperation between Stepanus Robin Pattuju, Azis Syamsuddin, M. Syahrial, and Maskur Husain and the KPK prosecutor team will prove this before the trial," said Ali.
