Need Teaching About Islam, Governor Of Riau Ansar Ahmad Encourages The Establishment Of A Parent Organization For Converts

KEPRI - Governor of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Ansar Ahmad said converts in his area needed guidance and teaching about Islam. The converts need continuous coaching.

"We are grateful that now the converts on Bintan Island have a gathering place, so they can help and support each other in carrying out their new choices," said Governor Ansar when inaugurating and inaugurating the Sakinah Mandiri Mualaf Foundation in Tanjung Unggat, Tanjungpinang City, Antara, Friday. , December 17th.

In the future, Ansar said, there will be discussions on the establishment of a provincial-level parent organization that can become a forum for converts to gather. Ansar plans to form similar organizations in all districts and cities.

"Our brothers and sisters, converts, of course need teaching about Islam, so I will encourage the formation of a larger organization," said Ansar.

The governor supports a routine program in collaboration with the Riau Islands Ministry of Religion Regional Office and BAZNAS to guide these converts.

He also provided assistance of Rp. 10 million for the Mualaf Sakinah Mandiri Foundation cash. The former member of the Indonesian House of Representatives promised a budget allocation for the development of Kepri converts in 2022.

The Sakinah Mandiri Mualaf Foundation is a self-help foundation formed at the initiative of converts in Tanjungpinang and Bintan, as a place to stay in touch and learn together about the teachings of Islam that they have just embraced.

The head of the Sakinah Mandiri Mualaf Foundation, Lindawati, said that converts at this foundation have various activities that are held regularly, such as learning how to pray and practicing fardu kifayah.

Currently, there are 30 converts who have joined the foundation.

"We here, all of the administrators are converts. We want to embrace all converts who are scattered and wherever they are, to study Islam together," said Lindawati.
