JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) is ready to operate trains to help connect people who want to travel safely and comfortably during Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022, by implementing health protocols during travel.

"KAI consistently applies strict health protocol on train services in accordance with government regulations during the COVID-19 pandemic," said VP of Public Relations of KAI Joni Martinus in a written statement received in Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Thursday, December 16.

Joni explained, in the period from December 17, 2021, to January 4, 2022, KAI will operate 7,246 train trips with details of 3,190 long-distance train trips and 4,056 local train trips.

He said that KAI had not made additional train trips because it was still observing the interest of the public.

He said, in general, tickets sold were still below 30 percent and it was predicted that it would continue to move because sales were still ongoing.

"The public's favorite routes so far are Jakarta-Yogyakarta vice versa, Jakarta-Surabaya vice versa, Yogyakarta-Surabaya vice versa, Jakarta-Purwokerto vice versa, and others," he said.

Train tickets for the Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 periods can already be ordered by the public through the KAI Access application, the KAI website, and all other official KAI ticket sales channels.

During the Christmas and New Year's 2022 period, KAI employees will also carry out command posts in various regions. The command post aims to ensure that services run smoothly, that health protocols are implemented in a disciplined manner, and ensure that rail facilities and infrastructure are in reliable condition.

"The goal is to provide a safe, comfortable, safe, and healthy train service during the Christmas 2021 and New Year 2022 periods," he said.
