Jokowi Orders COVID-19 Vaccination To Be Speeded Up, Especially For People In Remote Areas
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked for an accelerated delivery of the COVID-19 vaccine, especially for people in remote areas.
This was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Pratikno after holding a meeting at the State Palace, Thursday, December 16.
Pratikno said the order was conveyed by President Jokowi directly to regional heads up to the Regional Police Chief and Pangdam.
"Earlier, the President conveyed to the Pangdam, Kapolda, Governor, Regent, Mayor throughout Indonesia to accelerate vaccination. Because now there are fewer and fewer people who have not been vaccinated but the locations are increasingly on the outskirts, increasingly in remote areas, then more in remote areas plus the challenges of the weather in the regions. the outskirts," Pratikno told reporters in Jakarta.
With these conditions, Jokowi then asked regional heads to be creative and innovate. Especially, so that people in remote areas want to get the COVID-19 vaccination.
"Mr. President asks regional heads, Pangdam, Kapolda to be more creative in innovating to vaccinate people who are located in remote areas," said Pratikno, imitating President Jokowi's direction.
"The President's directive, let's speed up the vaccine for those who haven't, the place is getting more remote, farther away, but he still has to be pursued with innovative ways," he added.
During the meeting, a number of regional heads had initiated creative and innovative vaccine movements to reach people in remote areas. One of them, by using a motorized vehicle so that door to door vaccines can be implemented.
Not only that, there are also regions that use prizes to attract citizens to carry out vaccines. It is hoped that in this way the 70 percent vaccination target can be quickly met.
"Because that's how we protect people from the pandemic," he concluded.
