DPR Leaders Strive For TPKS Bill To Enter Tomorrow's Plenary Agenda

JAKARTA - The leadership of the DPR RI is trying to include the Draft Law (RUU) on the Crime of Sexual Violence (TPKS) on the agenda of tomorrow's plenary meeting. It is known, 7 out of 9 factions have agreed that the draft of the TPKS Bill is a proposal for the DPR's initiative.

Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI from the PKB faction, Muhaimin Iskandar, admitted that he and the deputy chairman of the DPR from the NasDem faction, Rachmat Gobel, had pushed for a meeting of the Deliberative Body (Bamus) to determine the plenary agenda.

"Earlier, Pak Rachmat as the deputy chairman, both of them, have tried so that the Bamus can carry out today," said Muhaimin at the DPR Building, Wednesday, December 15. Moreover, he said, tomorrow, Thursday, December 16, will be the closing plenary session of the 2021-2022 Session II Period. This means that the board will be in recess until January 2022.

"Tomorrow is the last plenary session that ends the last trial period. I hope that today can be muted, but I can't confirm whether the technicalities are ready or not," said Cak Imin.

Previously, the Chair of the TPKS Bill Working Committee (Panja) Willy Aditya asked that the bill be agreed in a plenary meeting. He even suggested that it be discussed during the recess. "God willing, we are still in communication. I said earlier if I could allow permission to convene during the recess. Why not, after all, other laws can," said Willy at the DPR Building, Wednesday, December 8. The discussion was held during the recess because he wanted the TPKS Bill to be passed into law in the next session. "The maximum future trial period has been approved," he said.

According to this NasDem Party politician, this regulation is very much needed by the community, especially victims of sexual violence to get justice. "Victims who need justice are really waiting for a law (TPKS) to come," said Willy. Support also comes from the government. "All of this is our cooperation together, and like I said earlier, for discussion with the government, yesterday, if I may now leak it, yesterday when we had the meeting on Monday, the government came to the DPR, to explain how the government is doing. has a commitment to complete this bill. Hopefully the surpres will not take long. Because the DIM has been prepared by the government," he said.
