The Establishment Of The Joint Task Force Will Become An Indonesian Legacy In The G20 Presidency
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said that one of the concrete evidences in the Indonesian Presidency at the G20 was the effort to realize the establishment of a joint finance health task force. According to the Minister of Finance, this work unit will initiate the strengthening of the global health architecture.
"This will be tangible evidence at the finance track sector meeting by collaborating with the Ministry of Health as a member of the G20 forum whose aim is to encourage better preparedness in dealing with pandemics in the future," he said while giving a virtual press statement on the agenda of the Sherpa Track- Finance Track G20, Wednesday, 15 December.
The Minister of Finance added that these efforts are at the same time Indonesia's commitment to leading the direction of the world economy in the next year.
“The joint task force is a concrete form of Indonesian leadership and the Indonesian Presidency at the G20, especially in the financial sector in order for us to recover together, recover stronger. So, the world can recover together and no country is left behind to achieve a stronger economy,” he said.
To note, the formation of the joint finance health task force was based on the world's unpreparedness to face the COVID-19 pandemic which has cost up to US$12 trillion and 5 million people died. Therefore, the finance ministers and health ministers under the G20 also agreed to build a mechanism called pandemic preparedness.
The G20 countries also agreed that 70 percent of the world's population should have been vaccinated by mid-2022 or 40 percent by the end of this year.
