Escape Again, Escape Again! Commission III Asks The Ministry Of Law And Human Rights To Make New Breakthroughs To Anticipate Convicts Escape From Prison

JAKARTA - Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Arsul Sani asked the Criminal Investigation Police to investigate the case of the escape of prisoners at the Class IA Tangerang Correctional Institution (Lapas). Because according to him, this case cannot only be evaluated internally by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights. The chairman of the PPP faction wants a new breakthrough so that similar incidents don't happen again.

"It's not the time to cover up deficiencies in the agency, it's not that we don't dare to make breakthroughs. Further processes will also become material for making policies and improving standard operating procedures (SOPs)," Arsul told reporters, Tuesday, December 14.

Arsul also confirmed that Commission III of the DPR will conduct a thorough evaluation of the ranks of the Directorate General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkum HAM). This case, he said, would also be investigated in a meeting with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.

"We will really explore whether for example people running away from prisons are simply inhumane, or part of an opportunity created," said Arsul.

Previously, the Inspectorate General Team of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights went directly to examine a number of structural officials at the Tangerang Class 1A Penitentiary or Tangerang Lapas regarding the escape of Adam bin Musa, 43, a drug convict.

Adam is known to have fled on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. His tracks are currently in the joint search of prison officers and the police. This man from Aceh is being hunted to the island of Sumatra.

Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Banten Province, Agus Thoyib, stated that during the joint examination with Itiend, his party sent five inspectors. However, Thoyib has not explained the results of the examination.

"There is no report yet," said Thoyib, Monday, December 13, evening.
