Google Photos Folder Lock Feature Will Be Available On Android To Store Sensitive Content

YOGYAKARTA - Google technology company, plans to release the Folder Lock feature that can be used on all Android devices that have the Google Photos application.

The Folder Lock in Google Photos itself functions to secure sensitive content owned by users so that they cannot be seen by everyone, especially for minors.

Quoted from The Verge, the Folder Lock feature has been released on smartphones made by Google, namely the Pixel, since June 2021, and has received positive responses from users.

Therefore, Google plans to release the feature on all Android smartphones. Later, smartphones that have the Google Photos application will use the Lock Folder feature to store certain photos according to the user's wishes.

The way Folder Lock works is also quite simple, namely the user is asked to select a number of photos that you do not want to be seen by everyone who uses your device, then save them in a folder that is secured using a password.

How to Lock Photos and Videos in Google Photos

To hide photos or videos in Google Photos, make sure your smartphone already has the application. If it doesn't exist, you can download it first on the Google Play Store.

Next, you can open the Google Photos application, then select the photo library menu, then click the Utilities menu. After that, select the Locked Folder menu, or Lock Folder.

After entering the Folder Lock menu, you can select the "Set Up Folder Lock" menu and follow the next instructions. You will be asked to enter the content you want to save in the Lock Folder feature so that it can't be seen by everyone.

If you have set a password to use to lock the folder, you can close the Google Photos app after selecting the content you want to keep private, and the photos will be saved in the folder automatically.

Meanwhile, if you have not set it the user can open the Settings menu on your smartphone, and select the security menu. Next, you can set your smartphone screen password and use the same password to use in Folder Lock.

That's the way you can do to use the Folder Lock feature in Google Photos. For now, this feature is only available on Pixel and Samsung smartphones. But, in the near future it will be released on all smartphones using the Android 9 operating system or later.
