Erick Thohir Ensures BUMN Will Relocate Temporary Shelters For Victims Of The Semeru Eruption
JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir confirmed that state-owned companies will relocate temporary shelters for residents affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in East Java. Erick said that this was in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi)
This was conveyed by Erick when visiting refugees from the eruption of Mount Semeru on Sunday, December 12, 2021.
"We have asked SOEs to register and prepare for relocation for residents affected by the eruption," he said, quoted on Monday, December 13.
In addition to ensuring that he will relocate temporary shelters for affected residents, Erick said that the BUMN Disaster Task Force for the East Java region has also established five command posts that accommodate 3,207 refugees with 138 volunteers.
Erick said that SOEs had been committed from the start to assist in handling the eruption, starting from logistics, electricity, sanitation, medical personnel, trauma healing, to the SAR team.
"BUMN will also build MCK for the refugees," said Erick.
Not only that, Erick asked SOEs to also prepare for future community needs, such as education. Erick said the BUMN would provide educational scholarships and stationery for orphans who were victims of the disaster.
"Hopefully this assistance can ease the burden on the community and be an encouragement for the future," he said.
Distribute medical aid to toddler milkErick ensured that SOEs were present in assisting the handling of the Mount Semeru eruption disaster. Erick encouraged SOEs to be involved in helping to relieve residents affected by the eruption.
During his visit, Erick also handed over a number of aids in the form of multivitamins, blankets, gloves, mukena, towels, mats, medicines, toddler milk, and cooking oil.
"Hopefully this assistance can ease the burden on our brothers and sisters affected by the eruption a little," said Erick.
Erick also asked SOEs to map out other needs that are also needed by the community. Erick assessed that the affected community still really needed various assistance in dealing with the impact of the eruption.
"We ask SOEs to immediately map what the community needs. Not only for current needs, but also for the future," said Erick.
During this visit, said Erick, BUMN will collaborate with Banser, BNPB, TNI and Regency Government in building MCK facilities and 20 temporary shelters for refugees.
Erick said that collaboration and mutual assistance are the main keys in disaster management. Erick said the SOE disaster task force would work hand in hand with various parties in handling the impact of the eruption.
"Let's work together to help people who are currently struggling," said Erick.
