Was Hampered By The Pandemic, PMI Cianjur Began To Aggressively Send Unit Cars To Collect Blood Stock
CIANJUR - The Blood Service Unit (UTD) of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Cianjur, West Java, ensures the availability of sufficient blood stocks until the beginning of the year. However, PMI continues to add stocks of various blood types.
Deputy Director of UTD PMI Cianjur, Dr. Susilawati said, to meet the blood stock for the past month, his party intensified unit cars to donor groups, ranging from offices and agencies to legal institutions and hobby groups in Cianjur.
"Every week we deploy unit cars at two points of the donor group, so that it can meet the monthly blood needs of various groups. Even during the initial pandemic, it was difficult to visit donor groups," he said in Cianjur, Antara, Friday, December 10.
He explained that during the pandemic, unit car activities had stopped due to social restrictions implemented by the government, especially during the second peak of the pandemic, causing UTD PMI Cianjur to have difficulty meeting the blood stock every month.
However, since the last two months, this activity has been increased again with maximum results at every point where unit cars are held, such as at the Cianjur Kodim headquarters, where officers can collect more than 100 blood flasks. So that the blood stock at the end to the beginning of the year can be fulfilled.
"Towards the end of the month, we still have several schedules for picking up balls to the donor group, with the hope that the maximum stock can be more than the target. We even predict an increase in blood demand next year by more than 2,000 per month," he said.
He added, although the blood stock is met every month, the level of public awareness to donate blood is still lacking. So that his party continues to intensify socialization to various groups, about the importance of blood donation for health and saving the lives of others, said Susilawati.
