Ridwan Kamil Ensures Protection Of Rape Victims

BANDUNG - Governor of West Java (Jabar) M Ridwan Kamil ensured that female students who were victims of rape at one of the Islamic boarding schools in Bandung City received protection and assistance from a team of experts.

"The female students who have become victims have been and are being taken care of by the West Java Province DP3AKB Team for trauma healing and a new education pattern is being prepared according to their right to grow and develop," said Ridwan Kamil in a press statement quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 9.

The West Java DP3AKB through the West Java PPA UPTD together with the West Java Regional Police and the RI LPSK have carried out various protection efforts, ranging from psychological assistance, legal assistance, efforts to fulfill educational rights, reunification to families, to the implementation of reintegration.

In addition, DP3AKB together with the West Java Regional Police and the Indonesian LPSK are also committed to handling the rape case by prioritizing the Principle of Child Protection.

It is hoped that the rights of victims, legally, psychologically, socially, and educationally, can be fulfilled.

Kang Emil, as Ridwan Kamil is called, also asked the educational institution forum and the Islamic boarding school forum to remind each other if there were educational practices that were out of the ordinary.

"Also, local officials at the village/residence level should always monitor every public activity that is within their jurisdiction," he said.

Kang Emil hopes that the perpetrators get the harshest punishment according to the rules.

"The perpetrator has been arrested by the police and is being tried in court. Hopefully, the court can punish this savage and immoral person with as many articles as possible," he said.

"Hopefully this incident will not happen again and hopefully justice can be presented by the court to this case," he said.
