Bobby Nasution Opens Cheap Market Ahead Of Christmas And New Year, Spread Across 21 Districts Of Medan
MEDAN - The Mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, Bobby Nasution opened a cheap market in 53 points spread across 21 sub-districts to stabilize the prices of basic necessities ahead of Christmas and New Year.
"I hope this cheap market can stabilize prices in the market, and help the people of Medan City who celebrate Christmas and New Year," said Bobby Nasution, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 9.
He conveyed this after opening a low-cost market accompanied by relevant OPD leaders within the Medan City Government virtually from the Command Center room of the Medan Mayor's office.
Bobby Nasution said that the existence of this cheap market was a form of the Medan City Government's concern for the middle to lower economic community, especially in celebrating Christmas and New Year.
In addition to helping the local community, said Bobby, this cheap market is expected to control inflation in Medan City which will be held for 10 days from 9 to 18 December 2021.
The cheap market is open from 08.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB by selling basic necessities, including IR64 rice for Rp. /item.
"Inform the public of the existence of this cheap market. Include the selling price of basic necessities that have been subsidized so that this cheap market is truly beneficial for the community," said Bobby.
Bobby Nasution also asked the ranks at the regional level, including the Camat, Lurah and the Medan City Civil Service Police Unit to oversee the health protocols in the implementation of this cheap market.
"Strictly supervise the health protocols, there are no crowds. Because the key to avoiding the spread of COVID-19 is our compliance with the procedures," said Mayor Bobby.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Medan City Trade Service, Damikrot, explained that this cheap market allocates a subsidy of more than Rp.
"Generally, the location of this cheap market is in an area where the majority of the population is underprivileged and non-Muslim. In addition, the location of this cheap market is far from traditional markets," he said.
