Land Movement Damages Houses In Palabuhanratu Sukabumi

SUKABUMI - Land movement disaster occurred in Palabuhanratu Subdistrict, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, precisely in Kiaralawang Village, causing damage to residents' houses.

"My house is in a sloping condition and the floor is split open. The house affected by the landslide is just my house, but it is possible that it will spread to other residents' houses," said the owner of the house affected by the ground movement, Anisa in Sukabumi, quoted by Antara, Thursday, 9 December.

Based on observations at the location, the settlements affected by the ground movement were precisely in RT 01/21, Citepus Village, Palabuhanratu District, only a few days ago when cracks appeared in the ground around the residents' settlements, then the cracks spread to the house inhabited by husband and wife Rizal Muttakin (30) and Anisa (28).

In fact, the impact of this ground movement not only caused the tiled floor to split, but also damaged the foundation causing the house to tilt and the walls to crack.

According to Anisa, the crack was first found in her room, then it continued to spread to other parts of the room. The condition of the ground movement got worse when it rained heavily because the ground became unstable resulting in several points in the house having collapsed.

Worried that his house would collapse, he, his husband and children chose to flee to his parents' house which was not far from his house. But once in a while he checks the condition of his house because there are still many household appliances and electronic items that have not been moved.

"The house is still being used but only for cooking during the day, but in the afternoon until morning he and his family fled to their parents' house for fear of the house suddenly collapsing and we could be buried," he added.

As a result of this disaster, he also reported to the head of the neighborhood unit (RT) so that the local government could immediately deal with it because if it was ignored the impact would be wider. Anisa also hopes that there will be assistance such as the construction of a retaining wall (TPT) around the residents' settlements because there is a river not far from her house.

Previously, a similar disaster occurred in Palabuhanratu Subdistrict, precisely in Nyalindung Village, Pasirsuren Village which resulted in 37 houses being damaged, one resident died and some survivors chose to flee to a safer place.
