Task Force Highlights Increase In Bed Occupancy Of COVID-19 Patients In 6 Provinces Ahead Of Christmas And New Year
JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the number of beds for COVID-19 isolation patients in hospitals on a national scale tends to decrease.
However, the decline in the bed occupancy ratio (BOR) at the national level did not occur in the six provinces for the past few days.
"Although nationally the number of occupied beds or BOR for isolation purposes at referral hospitals shows a downward trend, there is an increase in the BOR for isolation in several provinces," said Wiku in a virtual press conference, Thursday, December 9.
The province that showed an increase in BOR in a few days in December was East Nusa Tenggara, which increased from 8.97 percent on the 7th to 10.31 percent the day after.
Then, in Central Kalimantan, there was an increase from 1.51 percent on the 5th to 2.14 percent on the 8th. Meanwhile, Gorontalo experienced an increase from 0 percent on the 5th to 1.11 percent on the 8th.
Furthermore, in Papua, there was an increase from 10.65 percent from the 5th to 11.26 percent on the 8th. Aceh showed an increase from 3.62 percent as of the 3rd to 7.61 percent on the 8th of December. Central Java saw an increase from 2.02 percent on the 5th to 2.38 percent on the 8th.
"We have seen unfavorable developments, especially in some of the areas that have been mentioned, preventing an increase in cases during the Christmas and New Year periods is actually important from now on," said Wiku.

Wiku also highlighted six provinces that had experienced a significant increase in daily cases. Among them is Lampung, which experienced an increase in daily cases from 1 to 18 cases in four days.
Then in Bangka Belitung, there was a daily case change from 8 to 15 cases in 2 days. In DKI Jakarta, there are additional daily cases from 41 to 70 cases in 2 days.
Then, West Java experienced an increase in cases from 29 to 83 cases in 3 days. In NTT there was an increase in daily cases from 3 to 27 in 3 days. West Papua experienced an increase in cases from 4 to 13 cases in 5 days.
Therefore, Wiku asked local governments that experienced an increase, both cases, and BOR, to immediately improve the pandemic condition in their area by continuing to carry out 3T efforts, 5M health protocols, and vaccinations.
"Improve the situation in the area no later than next week, as long as any indication of an increase will be given attention to ensure there is no increase in cases during this period," he added.
