6 Villages In East Aceh Submerged By Floods
BANDA ACEH - Six gampongs or villages in Sungai Raya sub-district, East Aceh district were flooded due to high-intensity rainfall hitting the local area, according to the Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA).
"The flooding occurred due to heavy rains that hit the East Aceh Regency and its surroundings", said Aceh Disaster Management Agency (BPBA) Chief Executive, Ilyas, through the Data and Information Center (Pusdatin) in Banda Aceh, quoted by Antara, Thursday, December 9.
Ilyas explained that it hit six villages in Sungai Raya District at around 11.45 am. Until now, according to BPBA, there have been no residents who have fled and have lost their lives.
According to Pusdatin, several submerged villages, such as Gampong Bukit Selamat, Paya Ketapang, Sungai Simpang, Seneubok Pasee, Buket Drien and Krueng Lingka, are all in the Sungai Raya area.
For temporary data, the affected victims include Gampong Bukit Selamat as many as 40 families (KK), Paya Ketapang 30 families, Sungai Simpang 20 families, Senebok Pase 30 families, Buket Drien 30 families and Krueng Lingka as many as 10 families.
“Officers in the field are still conducting data collection, including data collection on material impacts. Until now, there have been no refugees or casualties", said Ilyas.

East Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) officers continue to coordinate with various parties related to flood prevention, involving the TNI/Police and the community.
"The latest condition is that the water discharge continues to increase because it coincides with the sea tide", said Ilyas.
Previously, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminded the public to be aware of the potential for heavy rain that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in several areas in Indonesia on Thursday, December 9.
In the weather early warning system, BMKG predicts areas that have the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds, namely Aceh, Bali, Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Banten, DKI Jakarta, Gorontalo.
In addition, Jambi, West Java, East Java, West Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Lampung, Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Sulawesi Central, Southeast Sulawesi and South Sumatra.
