Megawati And SBY Attend The MPR Annual Session

JAKARTA - The 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri and the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) also attended the 2020 MPR Annual Session.

However, the presence of both of them was not directly at the MPR / DPR RI building. They attended this Annual Session virtually. This is because this Annual Session was held in a COVID-19 pandemic situation.

"What we respect is President Joko Widodo, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, fifth President Megawati Soekarnoputri, sixth President, Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, to be present virtually," said MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo at the opening of the Annual Session, Friday, August 14.

Then Bambang Soesatyo greeted the state officials who were present. He said based on the data, the members and participants of the trial who were present had met the requirements to run the trial.

"This trial has met the requirements. By reading Bismillah, this trial is opened and open to the public," he said.

President Jokowi arrived at 08.23 WIB wearing traditional Sabu clothes from East Nusa Tenggara. The President will deliver a speech regarding the performance reports of state institutions, and a speech to commemorate the 75th Indonesian Independence Day on Friday morning.

Before the President arrived, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin had arrived first. The President and the Vice President arrived implementing strict health protocols, such as wearing masks and keeping their distance.
