Residents Are Tumultuous With Police In Central Maluku, Propam Intervenes
JAKARTA - The Propam (Police's Professional and Security Division) Central Maluku Police are investigating an alleged violation of procedures for arresting the alleged perpetrator of the destruction of the park at the Tamilouw Village office, Amahai District, Central Maluku. The riots resulted in the shooting of dozens of residents with rubber bullets.
"Propam Maluku Police has gone down to investigate whether there was a procedural error in the police actions carried out in Central Maluku", said Head of Public Relations Division of the Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Wednesday, December 8.
Therefore, the National Police asked the public to provide space for Propam to investigate the alleged violation. Thus, the alleged violation can be proven.
"The National Police urges that when we agree that the law is the commander in chief, and at that time the Police are carrying out law enforcement duties, the public is advised to be able to provide space for the Police to be able to carry out their duties", said Rusdi.
However, if the community is still dissatisfied and considers a violation has occurred, it is advisable to take legal action. The public can file a pretrial lawsuit.
"If later judged by anyone that the legal action is illegal or its validity is doubtful, then anyone, the community can take other legal actions, namely through a pretrial hearing", said Rusdi.

For information, there was a riot between the community and members of the National Police in Tamilouw State, Amahai District, Central Maluku Regency, on Tuesday, December 7th.
The chaos was caused by the arrest of the alleged perpetrators of plant destruction who were deemed to have violated procedures.
The chaos got worse during the process of disbanding the masses. The police fired tear gas.
In fact, the police did the shooting using rubber bullets. Dozens of residents were injured as a result of the gunfire. Meanwhile, seven police officers were also said to have suffered injuries from blows and stones.
