House In East Jakarta On Fire When It Rains Heavily Accompanied By Lightning

JAKARTA - A residential unit in the Kayu Manis Area, Matraman, East Jakarta, was reportedly burnt down, allegedly due to an electrical short circuit during the lightning strike, Thursday, August 13 afternoon.

"When the lightning occurred then it was lit on the roof of the house. The temporary suspicion was that the lightning strike triggered an electrical short circuit," said Head of Operations for the East Jakarta Fire Department (Damkar), Gatot Sulaeman in Jakarta.

The incident reportedly took place at 15.50 WIB during heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

The burning house is located at Jalan Kayu Manis 5 Number 17 RT09 RW04 Kelurahan Kayu Manis, Matraman District.

"The object of the burning house, covering an area of approximately 50 square meters, belongs to Alex Pramono," he said.

A total of five people who are members of the two heads of families (KK) are reported to have survived entirely.

"There were no casualties," he said.

The fire fighting process involved three fire pump units and 25 firefighters.

"The blackout started at 16.15 WIB and ended at 16.25 WIB," he said.
