Beware, Highest Sea Tides Cause Coastal Flood In Jakarta Will Happen On December 11
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta area, especially those in the coastal areas of the Capital City, will still face the highest tide or sea level rise on Saturday, December 11.
North Jakarta Mayor Ali Maulana Hakim said this condition has the potential to cause the tidal water level to hit higher than before.
"After last Sunday the tidal wave was high, we will still face two high times, namely on Thursday, December 9 tomorrow and Saturday, December 11," said Ali in his statement, Wednesday, December 8.
Therefore, Ali said that the preparation of equipment and troops, as well as supervision in dealing with tidal floods, continues to be carried out in collaboration with various parties.
"Relevant Regional Work Unit (UKPDs) such as Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and Firefighters (were encouraged) to always carry out surveillance. We also ask for assistance from the three pillars to help in terms of security," said Ali.

Ali hopes that in the future there will be no casualties due to the tidal flood in North Jakarta. "The most important thing is that the community is facilitated. Even though there is no evacuation, all kinds of collaborative assistance are sought to be directly provided to the community," he added.
Furthermore, Ali revealed that water level monitoring is carried out routinely every 30 minutes at the Marina Watergate and Kali Asin, as well as making sandbag embankments at several points, such as on Jalan RE Martadinata, around Muara Baru, and the Sunda Kelapa Harbor.
Regional Apparatus Organization (OPD) traffic officers have also been alerted for the evacuation process, evacuation locations, social assistance, post-coastal flood garbage cleaning, to traffic regulation so that residents' activities can continue.
“Never let your guard down and must stay alert. (When there is a tidal flood) After the water recedes, the channel will be cleaned immediately, so that the water flows smoothly towards the sea. We will use the pump for the seawater left in the bowl area," said Ali.
