9 Victims Of Ship Leaking In The Waters Of Tanjung Toronipa Konawe Found Safe
KENDARI - The Kendari Basarnas team and fishermen safely evacuated three crew members and six passengers from a leaking ship in the waters of Tanjung Toronipa, Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi.
The release from the Kendari Basarnas in Kendari, Tuesday night, said the ship, which was experiencing bad weather, was found at 17:20 WITA with a tilted position of about 1.5 NM to the southwest of the estimated crash site.
A total of six passengers were evacuated using a community-owned fast boat to Toronipa Beach and three crew members were evacuated using RIB to the Kendari Basarnas Main Pier.
"In total, nine victims of the leaked ship are all safe," said Basarnas spokesman Kendari Wahyudi, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 7.
At 18.20 WITA, the Kendari KPP Rescue Team arrived at the Kendari Basarnas Main Pier with three POB KM Putra Samudera and then they were handed over to the family.
He explained that with the discovery of the ship and all of its crew and passengers, the SAR operation on KM Putra Samudera 01, which almost sank due to bad weather around Tanjung Toronipa waters, was declared complete and closed at 19.00 WITA.
Weather conditions at the crash site were cloudy with wind speeds of 2-15 knots and wave heights of 1-1.5 meters.
The crew and passengers of the ill-fated ship, Kubais (47) as the captain, Sangkala (59) and Jarwah (49) were both crew members, as well as six passengers, respectively Fina (23), Naeda (55), Saifuddin (33), Arifin (47), Wa Saima (45), and Anggi (21).
The elements involved in the evacuation process were eight Kendari KPP Rescuers, 10 Kendari KSOPs, four Kendari Port Health Offices, five Soropia Police, and 20 Toronipa communities.
The main tools used in the operation were one RIB unit, one Rescue Car, two ambulance units, KP 370 belonging to KSOP Kendari, and two community-owned fast boats.
KM Putra Samudera 01 encountered a leak in the shipping from Kaleroang Port, Central Sulawesi to Kendari Port, Southeast Sulawesi.
After being hit by the waves, KM Putra Samudera 01, which is a passenger and freight ship, broke and water entered the waters of Tanjung Toronipa.
