BMKG Weather Forecast: A Mass Of Cold Air Influences The Dominance Of Today's Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most of Indonesia will experience heavy rains and strong winds, Tuesday, December 7, which is influenced by cold winds from the Asian continent.

Reporting from Antara, based on the www.bmkg.go.id page in Jakarta, this condition causes the formation of a wind confluence or convergence area that extends from Sumatra, Java, Southern Kalimantan, Sulawesi, North Maluku, to West Papua.

Therefore, the potential for heavy rains is predicted to increase, especially in the southern part of Sumatra, Java Island, Bali to West Nusa Tenggara, southern Kalimantan, southern Sulawesi, and several areas in northern Sulawesi, North Maluku, West Papua, and the Papua region.

BMKG also conveyed an early warning to the public to be aware of the potential for rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds in the areas of Banten, southern Kalimantan, southern Sulawesi, and northern Sulawesi.

A number of capital areas are predicted to receive light to heavy rain, including Serang, Bengkulu, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Pangkal Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Ternate, Mataram, Kupang, Manokwari, Mamuju, Makassar, Manado and Padang.

The BMKG reminded the government and the public to increase their awareness of the potential for an increase in rainfall above normal until Thursday, December 9.

"Most parts of Indonesia have entered the rainy season period. With indications of the active La Nina phenomenon during this rainy season, awareness of the potential for an increase in rainfall above normal must be increased," said BMKG Head Dwikorita Karnawati.

Dwikorita said the results of the analysis showed an increase in atmospheric dynamics activity which could have an impact on increasing the potential for extreme weather in general in most parts of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, several areas reported sunny and cloudy weather, including Banda Aceh, Gorontalo, Jambi, Surabaya, Kupang, Kendari, and Palembang.

The average air temperature in the capital area ranges from 22-33 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 50-100 percent.
