Temporary Data BPPD Lumajang: 102 Injured Victims Due To The Semeru Eruption
LUMAJANG - The Lumajang Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded temporary data on victims affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency, East Java, namely 102 people were injured and one person died.
"One victim died in the name of Poniyem (50), a resident of Dusun Curah Kobokan, Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District", said Head of Preparedness and Logistics for the Lumajang BPBD, Wawan Hadi Siswoyo, when contacted in Lumajang, Sunday, December 5.
On Saturday, December 4, in the Besuk Kobokan River, Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, there was a flood of cold lava and thick clouds of smoke accompanied by sand ash due to hot cloud lava material falling from Mount Semeru which was carried by rain, and caused cold lava flooding through DAS (Watershed Area) Besuk Kobokan.
"Based on the data we received in Pronojiwo Subdistrict, 45 people were injured and one died, while in Candipuro Subdistrict, 57 people were injured. Most of the victims suffered burns", he said.
According to him, the material impact, namely the Gladak Perak bridge, the main route to Lumajang - Malang was completely cut off so that residents in two sub-districts namely Pronojiwo and Tempursari sub-districts were isolated or there was no longer road access to Lumajang City.
"Thousands of residents in Supiturang Village - Pronojiwo District and Sumberwuluh Village in Candipuro District fled to mosques and village offices, as well as at several points that were considered safe", he said.

Wawan explained that the access road to the refugee location was still covered by rain accompanied by volcanic ash and the Lumajang BPBD continued to move to evacuate residents affected by the Semeru eruption.
"Based on information from the Mount Semeru Monitoring Post on Mount Sawur, it is stated that the current status of Mount Semeru remains at level II or alert", he said.
BPBD Lumajang uses heavy equipment wheal loaders to open access roads to Dusun Curah Kobokan and the main aid post is placed in Pendapa Arya Wiraja, Lumajang Regency.
Meanwhile, data on the number of temporary refugees in Pronojiwo District were 305 people, in Candipuro District as many as 409 people, and in Pasirian District as many as 188 people.
