Three Fierce Games, Marcus/Kevin Secure BWF World Tour Finals 2021

JAKARTA - Indonesian men's doubles, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, managed to secure a ticket to advance to the 2021 World Tour Finals (WTF) final after going through three fierce games. After the match, The Minions did not hesitate to acknowledge their strength and even give appreciation to their opponents.

In the semifinals which will be held on Saturday 4 November 2021, Marcus/Kevin are scheduled to meet Chinese Taipei representatives Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin. At the meeting at the Bali International Convention Center, Nusa Dua, The Minions won after fighting fiercely in three games with a score of 18-21, 23-21, 21-17.

Successfully securing a victory to appear in the final, the efforts that Marcus/Kevin went through were not easy. They have to fight for 1 hour 1 minute in order to be able to suppress an opponent who also continues to put pressure on them.

After the match, Marcus/Kevin said they were relieved and happy. He also mentioned a little about the appearance of the opponent and gave appreciation for appearing so adamant with the attack that was built.

"They played with a lot of energy, when they played they looked very strong. We tried to do our best in this match," said Marcus in a statement received by VOI, Saturday, December 4.

Not only Marcus, but Kevin also admitted that the Lee/Wang pair was better than their previous appearance in the group stage. The ability of the men's doubles pair, ranked third in the world, was extraordinary in the match.

Because, both seem to take the initiative to attack from the beginning of the game to try their luck to win in this match. Lee/Wang also made it difficult for The Minions during the preliminary round of Group A, so they were only able to win narrowly with a score of 23-21, 21-19 in 44 minutes.

"I also feel that they are better than the previous meeting. We just want to play out the best in every game," concluded Kevin.

Thanks to this victory, Marcus/Kevin will face Japan's representatives, Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi in the 2021 World Tour Finals final.

Unfortunately for his opponent, it is known that the representative of the Land of the Rising Sun can advance to the top party after defeating the representatives of Malaysia, Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi with a score of 21-18, 21-15.
