Transjakarta Accident Again, DKI Deputy Governor Will Re-evaluate

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said the DKI Provincial Government will evaluate the cause of the Transjakarta accident that occurred today in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC), Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

Previously, the Transjakarta accident had also occurred on Monday, October 25, early in the morning. As a result of the accident 33 people became victims. In which, two of them died and 31 people suffered minor and serious injuries.

At that time, Riza also said that he would evaluate the incident. Today, Riza admitted that he would re-evaluate the causes of Transjakarta's operational problems.

"Indeed, there have been a number of incidents recently, related to drivers, bus problems, yesterday there was a collision, now the post. Later we will evaluate more fully and thoroughly what the real problem was that caused the collision and later we will find the best solution," said Riza at DKI City Hall, Central Jakarta, Thursday, December 2nd.

For information, a Transjakarta bus crashed into the Traffic Police Post (Pos Polantas) PGC Cililitan which is located at the intersection in front of the Cililitan Wholesale Center (PGC), Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.

As a result of the collision, the Polantas Post was badly damaged after being hit by a Transjakarta bus from the direction of Jatinegara. According to information, a Transjakarta officer was injured in the accident.

The accident had caused traffic jams around the PGC Cililitan area. The reason is, half the bus body is still on the shoulder of the road so that it blocks the flow of traffic in that location.

East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Head AKBP Edy Surasa said the cause of the Transjakarta bus accident was the fall of a jack from under the driver's seat.

Then, the jack hit the gas pedal, causing the bus to speed up and hit the traffic police post (Post Polantas).

"The jack of the bus was placed under the driver's seat, then it rolled on the gas pedal so that the busway hit the police post," said East Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Head AKBP Edy.

There is a victim in this single Transjakarta bus accident. The victim is a Transjakarta officer who usually guards the bus way at the location. Currently, the victim has been rushed to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital.
