Rankireddy/Shetty Withdraw From BWF World Tour Finals, Marcus/Kevin Win Without Sweating

JAKARTA - It has been confirmed that the Indonesian men's doubles badminton players, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjay Sukamuljo will not compete on the second day of the World Tour Finals (WTF) 2021. Their opponents who are representatives of Thailand withdrew.

From the information shared by BWF, the decision to withdraw Rankireddy/Shetty automatically means that all the results they have won in this competition will be deleted and will not be considered.

The elimination of the match between Rankireddy/Shetty also made Marcus/Kevin only bagged one victory, namely over Lee/Wang.

Meanwhile, the struggle for two tickets to the 2021 WTF semifinals is now only being hunted by the Minions, Astrup/Rasmussen, and Lee/Wang.

Astrup/Rasmussen will face Lee/Wang today while the Minions vs Astrup/Rasmussen duel will take place on Friday.

Kevin/Marcus themselves are among the players who have undergone a series of solid tournaments since September. After competing in the Sudirman Cup and Thomas Cup, they participated in three tournaments in Europe followed by three tournaments in Bali with a gap of only a week between the two series.

The Minions also still have to prepare for the 2021 World Championship which will take place on December 12-19.
