TNI Commander Guards Cases Of Human Rights Violations In Papua

JAYAPURA - TNI (Army) Commander, General Andika Perkasa, said he would oversee cases of human rights violations in Papua.

"I will oversee cases of human rights violations, including those in Papua", said the TNI Commander in Jayapura, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, December 1.

According to him, there are 14 cases of human rights violations in Papua, including those in Paniai which have just been handled.

In addition, according to reports received, several human rights cases are currently being handled, including human rights violations in Intan Jaya which resulted in two civilians being reported missing.

The legal process must be carried out not only against the perpetrator but also the commander, said Andika while admitting that he has been guarding the case since serving as Kasad.

In the case of the disappearance of two residents, namely Luther Zanambani and Apinus Zanambani, the legal process has been ongoing with the suspect as the battalion commander and two people holding the rank of major, including a liaison officer.

"The legal process must be carried out so that the actions taken are accounted for so that the good name of the TNI is maintained", said TNI General Andika.

The TNI Commander, General Andika Perkasa, since Tuesday, November 30, has made a working visit to Jayapura to review the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination celebration which was carried out in three different locations.

The three locations where the COVID-19 vaccination was carried out were in the multi-purpose building of the Silat Papare Sentani Air Base, Jayapura Regency, and two in the Jayapura City area, namely at the Trisila Lantamal X field and at the Marthen Indey Army Hospital.
