For The Sake Of Security, The Prosecutor's Office Proposes A Trial Of 6 Papuan KKB Members Attacking TNI Soldier Maybrat In Makassar

SORONG - The West Papua High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) has sent a letter to the Supreme Court asking that six suspects in the attack on the TNI AD post in Maybrat that killed four soldiers be carried out in Makassar for security reasons.

"However, there has been no response from the Supreme Court and we are still waiting," said Eko Nuryanto, Head of the General Crime Section of the Sorong District Attorney's Office in Sorong, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 25.

He added that until now the case files for the six suspects for trial have not been completed and are still being completed by the police. Separately, the Head of the Sorong District Court, Willem Marco Erari, said that his party had received a copy letter that the West Papua Prosecutor's Office had submitted to the Supreme Court for the trial of the six suspects in the case.

He added that according to the procedure, the court should have submitted the letter, but perhaps because the process was already underway and for security reasons, the prosecutor's office preceded in submitting the letter.

Previously, on September 2, 2021, the TNI post in Maybrat Regency, West Papua, was attacked by an armed criminal group (KKB) which resulted in the death of four TNI soldiers.
