Group Of Rafting Tourists Buried By Landslide On Ayung River, Gianyar, 2 People Died

GIANYAR - A landslide occurred in the Ayung River, Banjar Begawan, Payangan District, Gianyar Regency, Bali. The landslide hit six tourists, two of whom died.

The two people who died were a foreigner and one Indonesian citizen. While one more person is still being sought.

"Six people (accidentally hit by the landslide) died, two people survived and one person was seriously injured. Then one person is still looking for," said Head of the Gianyar BPBD Emergency, I Gusti Ngurah Dibya Presasta, Thursday, November 25.

Initially this group of tourists will do rafting. However, there was heavy rain and it was finally canceled. When they returned to the rafting provider post, a landslide occurred until they were finally dragged and buried.

Locals who saw the incident immediately came to their aid. Residents managed to evacuate five of the six victims. Three survivors, two dead, one in search.

"They haven't gone down (rafting) yet and are still looking to go to the rafting location, it turned out that it was canceled because of heavy rain and was buried by landslides due to the influence of the heavy rain. Yes, they were under the cliff," said Dibya.
