Police Reveal Identity Of Woman And Baby Buried In Plastic Bags At Kupang SPAM Project
KUPANG - The Kupang City Police Team managed to uncover the bodies of a woman and a baby who were found buried with plastic bags wrapped in a plastic bag inside the Kali Dendeng SPAM pipeline excavation site, Kupang City, at the end of October 2021.
"Based on the agreement with the evidence found at the crime scene as well as the results of DNA examination and examination of the report, the investigators managed to reveal the identities of the two victims," said Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Rishian Krisna Budhiaswanto at Bhayangkara Hospital, Kupang City, quoted by Antara, Thursday, November 25.
The female victims are Astri Evita Seprini Manafe (AESN) who is about 30 years old, and Lael Maccabe (LM), a one year old baby. The victim is a resident of Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Kelapa Lima Village, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City.
The success of the Kupang City Police in uncovering this case after it sent samples from the victims for DNA testing and then traced by experts.
Kombes Krisna said after the DNA test results came out, the police immediately handed over the body to the victim's family for burial.
"But later on, both the NTT Police, the Kupang City Police and the Alak Sector Police will collaborate to continue to reveal more deeply the motives for the deaths of the two victims," he added.
From observations at the location, the process of handing over the bodies to the victim's family was colored by the sobs of the victim's parents.
Previously reported on the case of the discovery of the body on Saturday, October 30 afternoon by the Alak Police. The two bodies found were a 30-year-old adult woman and a 1-year-old baby boy.
The two bodies were found by project workers wrapped in large plastic bags at the excavation of the Kali Dendeng drinking water supply system (SPAM) pipeline in Penkase Oeleta Village, Alak District, Kupang.
At the crime scene the police found a hat, pants and a children's book.
Meanwhile, the victim's family, who is the victim's cousin, Jack Manafe, expressed his gratitude to the Police for successfully revealing his identity.
"Praise God, all our prayers have been answered. DNA results are available and positive for Astri and Lael. Currently, the family is preparing to take the bodies and bury them," he said.
From the start, Jack Manafe and his extended family believed that the bodies belonged to his sister Astri Evita Suprini Manafe (30) and her son Lael (1 year).
Because of this belief, this resident of Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, RT 27/RW 08, Kelapa Lima Village, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City allowed his father Yan Manafe and his mother to take samples for DNA testing and the results were identical.
