JAKARTA - Army Chief of Staff (KSAD), General TNI Dudung Abdurachman, and General Chairperson of Persit, Kartika Candra Kirana (KCK) Rahma, made their first visit to Manokwari Regency, West Papua, Wednesday 24 November.

Head of Information for Kodam (Kapendam) XVIII Kasuari Colonel Hendra Pesireron said that the arrival of the Army Chief of Staff with his wife was part of the agenda for a working visit to the province of West Papua.

"The Army Chief of Staff and his entourage arrived at Rendani Manokwari Airport at 16.46 WIT and were greeted by the Governor of West Papua, Dominggus Mandacan, together with the XVIII Military Commander/Kasuari Maj. Gen. TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa, accompanied by a traditional Papuan dance", said Kapendam as quoted by Antara.

Kapendam said that General Dudung's visit to West Papua was his first visit since being sworn in by the President as Kasad on November 17 at the Merdeka Palace.

"This visit is also a series of visits to eastern Indonesia because Kasad has visited the XVII/Cenderawasih Military Command in Jayapura Papua before going to Manokwari, West Papua today", Colonel Hendra said.

While in Manokwari until Thursday tomorrow, General Dudung will visit the Kodam XVIII/Kasuari Headquarters to meet with soldiers and give directions to Dansat and Persit in the ranks of Kodam XVIII/Kasuari.

"After the visit to the Kasuari XVIII Kodam Headquarters, the Army Chief of Staff and his entourage will continue the same working visit to Makassar, South Sulawesi", said Kapendam.
