South Jakarta Residents Support Erick Thohir To Free Gas Station Toilets

JAKARTA - Residents of South Jakarta support the move by the Minister of SOEs, Erick Thohir, who instructed all Pertamina gas stations to provide free toilets to visitors.

One of the residents, Suharjo, said that the move was very positive for gas station consumers. Because, even though the toilet at the gas station has a tariff of IDR 2.000, if you don't have any change, it will go awry.

"I agree that toilets at gas stations are free of charge. Most gas stations have made their toilets free," said Erick Thohir, in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, Tuesday.

One of the motorcyclists, Putra Yusamudra, also stated that he supports Erick Thohir's move to make toilets at Pertamina gas stations free.

"If a gas station charges a fee for its toilet, then the toilet must always be clean and the guard gets a clear honorarium," he said.

Based on observations, gas stations on Jalan Fatmawati, Pangeran Antasari, to Jalan Kemang Raya, the toilets are not installed at a tariff of IDR 2.000, for urinating and defecating. Be it gas stations with the Pertamina logo or other gas stations, such as Shell and Total.

Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir instructed Pertamina's directors to make toilets free at all Pertamina gas stations which are managed directly or in collaboration with the private sector.

"To Pertamina's directors, I hope that public facilities like this should be free, because gas stations can (profit) from selling gasoline, as well as grocery stores. So people should get additional facilities," said Erick Thohir as quoted from his official Instagram account @erickthohir in Jakarta , Tuesday.

Erick stated that he was surprised to find that there was a fee of IDR 2.000 to IDR 4.000 for people who use the toilets at Pertamina gas stations in the District of Malasan, Probolinggo, East Java.

Erick stated that he would follow up the fee levy on the public toilet at the gas station by contacting the owner of the gas station, after the SOE Minister used the paid toilet at the Pertamina gas station.

"Yes, I'll call you later, why do you have to pay for the toilet, even though it's already a gasoline business," he said.

The Minister of SOEs also immediately instructed Pertamina's directors to fix the paid toilet problem, considering that gas station toilets under Pertamina should be free.
