Hundreds Of Houses In East Aceh Are Flooded
BANDA ACEH - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Aceh Regency said hundreds of houses in three gampongs or villages were flooded due to heavy rains.
Head of BPBD East Aceh Regency, Ashadi, said that there were 300 houses that were recorded to be flooded in three villages spread across Indra Makmur District.
"However, until now there has been no report of a wave of refugees. Residents are reported to be still in their homes. The water level ranges from 20 to 50 centimeters," Ashadi said, quoted by Antara, Friday. November 19.
Ashadi said that based on temporary data, flooding occurred in Julok Rayeuk Selatan Village with affected residents reaching 260 people or 52 families.
Furthermore, Alue Le Mirah Village with 265 people or 65 families affected, and Jambo Lubok Village with 915 affected people or 183 families.
Ashadi said his party continues to monitor the development of flooding in Indra Makmur District and several other points that have the potential for flooding.
"We are on standby at the disaster post. We have also coordinated with the Social Service regarding the distribution of aid if at any time there is a wave of refugees," said Ashadi.
The Regional Secretary for East Aceh Regency, Mahyuddin, appealed to the public to be aware of the potential for flooding after the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) declared that East Aceh Regency was entering the rainy season.
"Given that East Aceh is now entering the rainy season, it is necessary to anticipate early and be alert and respond to disasters that can occur at any time," said Mahyuddin.
To deal with the threat of disaster, said Mahyuddin, the East Aceh District Government has mapped disaster-prone areas in 24 sub-districts
"We continue to synergize preparedness in handling natural disasters, including mobilizing all policy makers to anticipate them," said Mahyuddin.
