Westlife Releases 'My Hero' For COVID-19 Fighters

JAKARTA - Westlife is ready to release their first single titled My Hero and will be included in the upcoming album Wild Dreams. The launch of My Hero follows Westlife's return to the music industry last month with the announcement of a new album and stadium and arena tour in 2022.

My Hero was co-written with Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac. The song was played for the first time in front of an audience of more than five million on the culmination of the inspirational Powerful Pride of Britain Awards.

"'My Hero has very beautiful lyrics. This is a sincere song that has a strong meaning for all of us," said Westlife, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, November 19.

Westlife said that My Hero is dedicated to everyone who has struggled over the last 18 months or during the COVID-19 pandemic. For Westlife, My Hero is also full of emotion and has the potential to truly connect with those closest to you.

"So it reflects the people we love who so often become our own personal heroes," said Westlife.

An exhilarating new music video showing Westlife together in the studio playing a classic acoustic version of the song has also been released.

Westlife has sold over 55 million records worldwide and is the only band to have their first seven singles reach number 1 on the UK charts.

They also have the most #1 debut singles in the UK of any artist. Altogether Westlife had an incredible 14 #1 singles, following Elvis Presley and The Beatles. Westlife also has 33 No.1 albums worldwide and Wild Dreams album will be released on November 26, 2021.
