MUI Members Arrested By Densus 88, Muhammadiyah: We Leave It To A Truly Fair Legal Process
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Haedar Nashir, handed over the arrest of three terrorism suspects, one of whom is a member of the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Ahmad Zain an-Najah in a legal process.
"We leave it to the legal process that is truly fair, objective, and cannot be separated from maintaining community stability. I believe the police will be very thorough in dealing with it," said Haedar, after the reception of Muhammadiyah's 109th Milad, at the Sportorium of the University of Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. (UMY), reported by Antara, Thursday, November 18.
Haedar also asked the public not to be provoked by the various issues that arose following the arrest of the three suspects by the Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror Police.
"The public should not be provoked and carried away by issues which in the end we become counterproductive and noisy because of this," he said.
He hopes that the police will be able to handle it well, so that the situation in the country will not be clouded by the problems that arise related to the terrorism issue.
"Of course we also hope that there is a lot of positive potential for our society for the nation and state, so that this terrorism problem can be handled properly by the police, by the court process, but also in terms so that the Indonesian pool does not become cloudy because of this," said Haedar .
Previously, the National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 arrested three people related to the terrorist activities of the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) group in the Bekasi area on Tuesday, November 16.
The three suspects, namely Ahmad Zain An-Najah, Farid Ahmad Okbah, and Anung Al Hamat.
The results of the investigation of Densus 88 Ahmad Zain An-Najah is the Chairman of the Sharia Board of the Baitul Mal Amil Zakat Institution Abdurrahman bin Auf (LAM BM ABA), while Fadir Ahmad Okbah is a Member of the Sharia Board of LAM BM ABA. Meanwhile, Anung Al Hamat is the founder of the Shield of Nusantara Esa.
LAM BM ABA is a funding institution managed by the JI group. Meanwhile, Perisai Nusantara Esa is a wing organization of the JI group.
The arrest of Ahmad Zain An-Najah dragged the MUI, because of his status as a member of the MUI Fatwa Commission.
The MUI has deactivated Ahmad Zain An-Najah as a member of the Fatwa Commission, starting from the day he was arrested.
