The DKI Provincial Government's Promise of Making One Million Infiltration Well With IDR 1.5 Trillion Budget
JAKARTA - Head of DKI Water Resources Agency, Juaini, said that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will continue the construction of more than one million absorption wells. This program is one of Jakarta's flood control measures.
This vertical infiltration or drainage well construction program will involve the community in its work. Meanwhile, the materials will be facilitated by the Natural Resources Office.
"The plan is we will ask for this work to be done in a labor-intensive manner. So, the residents can contribute to making the infiltration wells," said Juaini in the DKI Provincial Government YouTube account on August 6.
Juaini said that the work will start from 2020 to 2022. The target is 60 infiltration wells per 1 neighborhood (RT).
In detail, there will be the construction of 82,020 infiltration wells from 1,367 RT in Central Jakarta, 364,620 infiltration wells from 6,077 RT in South Jakarta, 311,940 infiltration wells from 5,199 RT in West Jakarta, and 428,160 infiltration wells from 7,136 RT in East Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will not build infiltration wells in North Jakarta. "In the North, we can't build it because the water is shallow. Only by digging 1 meter, the water would have risen," said Juaini.
So far, the infiltration well construction program has been carried out at several points. Such as RPTRA, local government buildings, schools, urban village offices, mosques in government offices, and city parks.
Then, the continuation of the construction has actually been planned since the beginning of this year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government must divert the flood management budget for COVID-19 handling and its economic impact.
Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government currently has received a loan of IDR 12.5 trillion from the central government to continue the regional program.
The loan funds come from the state-owned company (SEO) PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (SMI) Persero, facilitated by the Ministry of Finance. The loan repayment period is given for 10 years.
Of the total loans, DKI used around IDR 5.2 trillion for the flood management program. Meanwhile, the proposed budget for the construction of absorption wells is IDR 1.5 trillion. A budget of IDR 750 billion is issued in 2020 and the rest is spent in the following year.
