Rainfall In Indonesia Is High, BRIN And BMKG Await Requests For Implementation Of Weather Modification Technology
JAKARTA - The government has no plans to implement Weather Modification Technology (TMC) related to extreme weather due to the active La Nina phenomenon that occurs in Indonesia.
The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) as the executor supports this TMC, but is still waiting for a request from the Meteorology, Climatology Agency (BMKG).
"For weather modification, we are waiting for a request from the BMKG as the authority. BRIN is always ready to provide support in this regard," said BRIN Chairman Laksana Tri Handoko when contacted by VOI, Tuesday, November 16.

However, implementing TMC in Indonesia is BRIN (BPPT). Meanwhile, BMKG is tasked with providing information on potential clouds that can be sown for this TMC.
"BMKG provides information on the potential for rain clouds that can be sown," said Fachri when contacted by VOI.
Fachri explained, currently, most parts of Indonesia have entered the rainy season. The rainy season this year coincides with the active La Nina phenomenon. The active La Nina has the potential to increase the intensity of rainfall.
"And, the peak of the rainy season is expected to take place in January-February 2022," he said.
