West Java Athlete Appreciation At Peparnas Papua, Contingent Head: The Spirit Is Good

JAKARTA - Head of the West Java Contingent, Dedi Supandi, appreciated the athletes from Pasundan who won second place at the Papua National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) with a total score of 263 medals; 102 gold, 88 silver, and 73 bronze.

"The spirit is good, we can see that there are actually some of our athletes whose new athletes are still regenerating, the athletes have already entered the national training, so they are no longer allowed to enter some matches. These new athletes are part of the NCPI coaching pattern", said Dedi Supendi, as reported by Antara, Sunday

Mother of the Indonesian National Paralympic Committee Weightlifting (NPCI) West Java, Atalia Praratya who is the wife of the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil, attended the closing ceremony with pride and emotion.

In the afternoon before the closing, Atalia said that West Java's medal achievement could not be separated from the hard work of all parties. This includes prayers and support from the people of West Java.

Atalia hopes that the achievements of the Peparnas athletes can be an inspiration to the community. Despite the limitations, but still able to achieve a proud achievement.

"The most important thing about our sport is that it inspires everyone. That there shouldn't be any obstacles to achieving our goals", said Atalia.

West Java won second place in Peparnas XVI Papua 2021 with 102 gold, 88 silver, and 73 bronze. West Java managed to collect a total of 263 medals.

West Java only lost to Papua Province, which won the title as the overall champion of Peparnas with 126 gold, 85 silver, and 86 bronze medals.

Although it has not succeeded in juxtaposing the overall titles of PON and Peparnas as in the 2016 event in Bandung, this achievement is proud.

In the midst of the COVID-19 storm, West Java was still able to excel in the most prestigious national sporting events.

Peparnas Papua 2021 itself was officially closed by President Joko Widodo at the Mandala Stadium, Jayapura, Papua, Saturday, November 13.
