In Addition To COVID-19, Solo People Are Also Asked To Be Aware Of Dengue Fever
SOLO - Surakarta City Health Office, Central Java, asked the public to be aware of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) following the arrival of the rainy season.
"In this rainy season, one of the things that must be anticipated is clear pools of water, because that's where larvae breed," said Head of the Surakarta City Health Office Siti Wahyuningsih in Solo, as reported by Antara, Thursday, November 11.
Therefore, he asked the public not only to focus on preventing COVID-19 but also other diseases that are no less dangerous.
Related to this, his party continues to promote socialization through health centers.
"This socialization is related to behavior, it is environmental, how to control cleanliness, there is no puddle of water whatever the place. The socialization is carried out through health cadres, at least until March," he said.
Regarding the number of dengue cases in Solo, he said, this year has decreased. For this year, his office noted that up to November 10, 2021, 39 people had been infected with dengue. This figure has decreased when compared to last year, which was 73 people. However, in terms of the death rate for this year, there were more, namely five deaths and last year three deaths.
"It could be because the treatment was late or at that time the patient was afraid to go to the hospital because it was still COVID-19. That's why we ask the public for quick detection, especially since there are no health facilities in Solo," he said.
Meanwhile, other diseases to watch out for are upper respiratory tract infections (ARI). However, he hopes that the implementation of the health protocols that have been carried out since the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic can minimize the number of ARI diseases in the community.
"Hopefully this disease can be controlled with a culture of wearing masks, including tuberculosis," he said.
