Beware Of Delta Plus Variant, DPR Asks Government To Tighten Entrance Doors And Extend Quarantine Period
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR), Kurniasih Mufidayati, reminded the Indonesian government to be aware of the COVID-19 virus variant AY.4.2 or delta plus which has entered Malaysia.
She asked the government to tighten entry gates from abroad, as well as intensive tracking of countries that have been infected with the delta plus variant.
"The government confirmed that the delta plus variant is more dangerous, so it is necessary to temporarily tighten it from countries with a high level of spread of the variant," said Mufida in a written statement, Thursday, November 11.
This PKS Party politician also criticized the quarantine policy for arrivals from abroad which is now only 3x24 hours. According to him, this reduction in quarantine time could be a weak point for the entry of new variants into Indonesia.

Moreover, she said, when referring to the case of the delta plus variant in Malaysia, which is said to have been brought by Malaysian students from England. Therefore, he pushed for the quarantine period to be extended.
"This student was detected negative during the first PCR test but was confirmed to have been exposed to the delta plus variant while undergoing quarantine. If our quarantine is shortened, there is a greater possibility that this delta plus variant entry will be easier," said Mufida.
