Congratulations, UI Enters The Top 5 In Southeast Asia Version Of THE WUR 2022

JAKARTA - The University of Indonesia (UI) has succeeded in being ranked first in the country, ranked 5 in Southeast Asia, and ranked 301-400 in the world, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings (WUR) 2022 By Subject category for the arts and humanities clusters.

UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro in his written statement in Depok, West Java, Wednesday, said he was proud and happy when UI reached the first rank based on the assessment of several rating agencies, such as from THE WUR By Subject.

During this one year, he said, when all were still in a situation of concern due to the COVID-19 pandemic, UI did not subside in carrying out various activities related to Tri Dharma. Dedication to the country, proven through innovation and community service.

"All of this hard work seems to have paid off for UI's ranking, which until November 2021 has always been the best," he said as quoted by Antara, Wednesday, November 10.

This achievement shows that the results of the performance and collaboration of all elements in the UI are positive. UI, which is currently heading for an entrepreneurial university, seeks to improve its ranking in Asia, and to be considered in the list of world campuses.

"Next year, I hope that scores that are still small in certain areas can be spurred on to make UI the best in Southeast Asia and be increasingly recognized on a global scale. Thank you to all UI academics for all the hard work so far, so that UI becomes the first ranked university in Indonesia," he said.

The ranking was announced through the official website of THE World University Rankings https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/by-subject.

Dalam mengukur kinerja perguruan tinggi, THE WUR by Subject 2022 menggunakan indikator yang sama dengan THE WUR 2022. Indikator tersebut telah dikalibrasi untuk menyesuaikan setiap bidang ilmu.

THE WUR by Subject 2022 dalam bidang seni dan humaniora melakukan penilaian pemeringkatan berdasarkan lima indikator, yaitu: Industry Income (2,5 persen), International Outlook (7,5 persen), Teaching (37,4 persen), Research (37,6 persen), dan Citations (15 persen).

In the Industry Income indicator, UI managed to achieve a perfect score (100) which made it one of the top five universities with the highest Industry Income indicators in the world.

UI is also the only university in Indonesia that has successfully entered the category of THE WUR by Subject 2022 in the arts and humanities.

In Southeast Asia, only eight universities have successfully entered the Arts and Humanities subject. UI is ranked 5th out of 8 institutions in the Southeast Asia region, which is above Universiti Putra Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and Universiti Teknologi MARA. The leading indicator of UI in the Southeast Asia region is the Industry Income indicator in the first place.

The rankings across these disciplines highlight leading universities across the following disciplines: Art, performing arts and design; Languages, literature and linguistics; History, philosophy, and theology; Architecture; and Archeology.

In this year's ranking table, THE WUR by Subject 2022 in Arts and Humanities covers 606 universities, up from 565 last year.
