2 Battalion 501 Soldiers Wounded By Shooting Contact With KKB Evacuated To Timika

JAYAPURA - Two soldiers from Infantry Battalion 501 who suffered gunshot wounds were evacuated from Sugapa to Timika, Papua.

Two soldiers who are members of the security task force in vulnerable areas were involved in a shootout with KKB in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Sunday, November 7.

Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gastoro said on Sunday, November 7, at around 15:00 WIT, members were shot at while delivering logistics, causing two people to suffer gunshot wounds.

"Their condition is stable," said Brigadier General Taufan, quoted by Antara, Monday, November 8.

Residents who previously fled have returned to their hometowns.

As for the people living around Sugapa, they prefer to be in the refugee camps at night, but from morning to evening they return to their respective homes.

"TNI-Polri continue to try to convince residents to return home because the situation is getting more conducive," said Brigadier General Taufan.
